Cybill Shepherd in "Stormy Weathers"

Tonight on Amazon Prime I watched a TV movie Cybill did back in 1992 called Stormy Weathers. I wasn't expecting much because I've seen some of her other TV movies and a couple of them were pretty bad. This one I really liked. I could see a lot of Maddie Hayes in her character, Sam Weathers. Sam is a detective, but she's got a little more spunk than Maddie, plus she carries a gun, knows karate, and can pull off wearing black and pink sneakers with just about everything she wears including her above-the-knee short skirts.

Many of her lines were said just the way Maddie would've said them. It was as if, after Lunar Eclipse, Maddie went off and got trained in self defense and started her own detective agency. I would have loved to see this movie play out with David Addison showing up.

I always thought that towards the end of Season 5 they made Maddie look... not so good... like older than she really was. Then they brought in Virginia Madsen, who is 11 years younger than Cybill, to play her cousin and snag David, and that made Maddie seem even older. The nice thing about this movie was that Cybill looked great in it. She had longer, straight hair, and looked 10 years younger than Season 5 Maddie.

I watched it almost pretending I was watching Maddie, and how I wished David was there. That would've been great.

If you get a chance, I would recommend watching this movie. I give it a 👍.

Hi Judy, I forget how old your girls are, but I would let my 12-year-old watch it. The violence is tame, and there's a scene where two people are in bed, but they are just talking. It was a TV movie back in the early 90's, so yeah, there's nothing in it that tweens couldn't see. I actually think your girls might like it, especially if they like Moonlighting and Maddie Hayes. It was a fun movie :). If you watch it, let me know what you think.

They are 9 (almost 10) and 12. Thanks for the info! Sounds safe enough, but I may watch it first and then decide. I'll let you know what I think!

I finally got to see this last night. It was pretty good and fun! It did seem a little bit like how Maddie may have been a few years later. I liked how she was tough and independent. She didn't need a man to save her or help her with the case.
Some of the outfits she was wearing though were kind of interesting, like a see-through blouse and a leather skirt. And she seemed to be flirting with every guy that she had a scene with. LOL! When I told my husband the title of the movie he thought it was about a stripper or porn star (which is funny since she says in the beginning that she hates being called Stormy since it sounds like a stripper's name). I told him it was about a detective so he watched it with me and we were laughing at some of the revealing outfits and her flirting with all the guys. I was saying I wonder what David Addison would have said if Maddie had shown up for work in some of those outfits. :)
But I liked it! I had fun watching it, especially with my husband. But I don't think the kids would really like it.

Another way they stuck it to Cybill!
